A campervan or motor home holiday in New Zealand is one of the best ways to get around and see the country. A rental or hire company is just around the corner in New Zealand and the country has a network of excellent parks and camping grounds with all of the facilities that you will need to provide a comfortable holiday. There are a number of excellent companies offering a wide range of vehicles on both of the New Zealand Islands. You will get to choose from everything from a very basic van right through to a luxury motorhome with all facilities including shower and toilet, kitchen and seating areas. The two major places where you can hire a vehicle are Auckland on the North Island and Christchurch on the South Island. There are a number of excellent rental companies who have very large depots in both of these cities. The best reasons to use one of the larger companies is not only the range of vehicles on offer but they have an excellent back up service in case something goes wrong.
When touring on the North Island, some of the places that you will want to see include the Bay Of Islands, The Coromandel Peninsular, The Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, The Tongoriro National Park and the geothermal regions around Taupo and Rotorua and the capital city of New Zealand which is Wellington. The roads throughout the country are mostly sealed however, because of the terrain, they need to be negotiated at a lower speed that in most other countries. This means allowing more time than you normally would to get from one place to another. The scenery right throughout the country is absolutely magnificent and there is no other country that can compare.
On the South Island you should plan to visit the Marlboro sounds region in the north of the island, Hanmer Springs, Arthurs Pass, Lake Tekapo and Mt Cook, Queenstown, The Fox and Franz Joseph glaciers and Milford Sound. This will take you through magnificent snow capped mountain ranges, verdant agricultural valleys and past magnificent lakes, rivers and other waterways. The Queenstown region is home to most of the best skiing resorts in New Zealand and the city area has great parks and there are lots of tours and attractions to occupy yourself for a few days at least.
