There is also a wide range of excellent accommodation on offer which includes backpacker hostels and superb resorts, hotels and apartments.
Queenstown is the most important tourist destination in the whole of New Zealand. It is located inland towards the southern end of the island on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. It is the center of an adventure travel industry that has no equal in the world. It is the home of the bungy jumping phenomenon, and thrilling jet boat rides that take tourists on high speed runs through wild river chasms and some of the worlds best skiing resorts are located here. All New Zealand tours include a trip to Queenstown or Wanaka.
